Abstract

This article explores the complex relationship between childhood and the digital environment, focusing on the legal and social implications of this interaction. It analyzes the evolution of the digital age for children and highlights the civil responsibility of parents and third parties in exposing the rights of children. Initially, the work presents a historical overview of digitalization, showing how it has transformed the way children interact and learn, bringing new challenges and opportunities. The text addresses the responsibility of parents under the legislation such as the Brazilian Civil Code, the Statute of Children and Adolescents (ECA), and the General Data Protection Law (LGPD), discussing "sharenting" practices and the risks associated with the exploitation of children's images by digital influencers. Additionally, it analyzes the responsibility of third parties, such a digital platforms, using the Internet Civil Framework and decisions from the Superior Court of Justice to discuss the necessary balance between freedom of expression and child protection. The study emphasizes the need for robust legal norms and effective protection practices to ensure a safe digital environment for children, promoting a deeper understanding of responsibilities in the digital age.
