Atuação da fisioterapia na funcionalidade de paciente com câncer de mama terminal na atenção básica

Abstract

Abstract: the most recent definition of Palliative Care is from the year 2018, was developed by the International Association for Hospice & Palliative Care (IAHPC), an association that contains a link with the World Health Organization (WHO). Then palliative care would be defined as a holistic care, delivered to people of all ages, who find themselves in some suffering related to their health, by diseases that cause the end of life. The goal of CP would then be to improve the quality of life of the patient, his family and his caregivers. Objective: to highlight the meaning of Palliative Care (PC) and what it is for, the importance of PC in cancer patients, to focus on the importance of maintaining quality at the end of the patient's life. Methods: Methods: The searches were made in the electronic databases Virtual Health Library (VHL), Lilacs, SciELO, PUBMED, between 2013 and 2021. There was a low number of articles with the specific theme of palliative care in physiotherapy. Results: initially, 64 articles were found, after refining the searches, reading titles, abstracts and content of the articles, with 8 articles left, using the descriptors "Palliative Care", "Oncology", "Breast Cancer", "Endof Life", "Primary Care", "Functionality", the search strategy used was: "Palliative Care AND Oncology", "Palliative Care AND Breast Cancer", "Palliative Care AND Primary Care", "Functionality AND breast cancer", "Physiotherapy AND Palliative Care. Conclusion: in view of the studies researched, we can conclude that palliative care has been a growing area throughout the health area, and especially in the performance of Physiotherapy, being of great importance that all professionals in the area have knowledge about this subject. And that more study is needed on the performance of physiotherapy in such a situation.
