Abstract

The present monographic work is an analysis, which originated now of concern during the mandatory curricular internship in Social Work, by the Pontifical Catholic University of Goiás - PUC Goiás, carried out in the period 2018-2019.In a service unit of urgency and emergency of the Unified Health System (SUS) when relating the role of the social worker, the bottlenecks and the insertion of Social Work in the urgency and emergency health policy. Using bibliographic research, through reading articles, dissertations, theses, books found in the current legislation that enforces health policy in Brazil and in the Diary de Campo. Interest in the topic. “The Social Service in Health: the Emergency Care Unit - UPA Norwest de Goiânia: 2018 -2019”, was due to the fact that he attended the supervised internship I, II and III, during the undergraduate course in Social Work at PUC Goiás, The general object of the research work and describe the emergence of the Unified Health System - SUS and the work of Social Work at UPA Norwest. It was discussed how the work of the social worker can contribute to meet the demands that emerge in the UPAs and what are the bottlenecks that compromise the realization of a social intervention in these health units. The applied approach method was qualitative, seeking to understand the insertion of Social Work in a 24-hour Emergency Unit. It is wall concluded that the meaning and scope of Social Assistance actions, within the scope of Public Health, are wide and complex, to the point of requiring the composition of a structure capable of facing the challenges with political-administrative agility, and of eliminate bottlenecks that compromise the effect of social intervention in the UPAs.
