SESC Jóquei Clube de Goiás

Abstract

This Final Project in Architecture and Urbanism addresses the architectural redesign of the Jockey Club of Goiás, a building inaugurated in 1975 and in use until 2009, which stands as a historic landmark in the city. Currently, the building faces serious conservation issues such as leaks and damaged structures and has been negatively impacted by alterations that compromised its integration with the urban surroundings, including the removal of native vegetation and changes to the permeability between Avenida Anhanguera and Rua 3. The project aims to transform the Jockey Club into a new cultural and community space through the creation of a SESC. The proposal involves preserving and adapting the existing structure, integrating it with new functionalities to meet contemporary community needs. The choice of SESC as the institution responsible for the project is justified by its ability to appreciate architecture and invest in the restoration and expansion of the space. Additionally, the institution requires a larger area in downtown Goiânia to enhance its visibility and diversify the services offered. Thus, the revitalization of the Jockey Club will facilitate the creation of a dynamic center that promotes cultural, sports, and recreational activities, contributing to the improvement of residents' quality of life and the requalification of the city center.
