Mulheres na matemática e suas contribuições

Abstract

The study aims to demonstrate that there are women who contributed to the discoveries of mathematics, although they are not cited with recurrence during the study of mathematics. Thus, seeking to inspire other women to continue their studies in the area, to contribute to research in mathematics education. Conducting a reflection on how over the years feminism has helped for the development of women within the area of mathematics and has enabled new paths never explored before. Its theoretical basis is the books by Londa Schiebinger, Márcia Tiburi and biographies selected separately through published articles. In addition to these, research was carried out in the classroom, during an internship IV project, in which the contributions of women in this mentioned study were presented to the students and their responses related to the content taught were reported. Two films were also portrayed in relation to the contributions of female mathematicians over the years, bringing a reflection on the challenges faced by them. The research results indicate that we have had changes over the years regarding the insertion of women in the study of mathematics, but we still have a long way to go for more women to be included in the area.
