dc.description.abstractABSTRACT This article aims to analyze public security in Brazil. It addresses the violence practiced by military police officers in the exercise of their functions, directed at socially independent groups. Violence by the police, constituting an institutionalized practice since the dictatorship, is strengthened by the negligence of the State, represented by the Public Prosecutor's Office, in the inspection of police activity, however, the body was in a way to be desired. It also addresses the violation of human rights in the face of this problem, and the reformulation of the Law on Abuse of Authority. Finally, we seek to discuss opposing arguments and support the demilitarization of the Military Police in Brazil. As a methodology, the bibliographic was used, exposing doctrinal positions on the subject. Keywords: Military police. Violence. Demilitarization. Abusept_BR

dc.description.resumoO presente artigo tem como objetivo analisar a segurança pública no Brasil. Aborda a violência praticada por policiais militares no exercício de suas funções, direcionada a grupos socialmente vulneráveis. Constituindo uma prática institucionalizada desde a ditadura, a violência pela polícia, se potencializa com a negligência do Estado, representado pelo Ministério Público, na fiscalização da atividade policial, contudo, o órgão age de forma a desejar. Aborda-se também, a violação dos direitos humanos perante a presente problemática, e a reformulação da Lei de Abuso de Autoridade. Por fim, busca-se discutir argumentos contrários e favoráveis a desmilitarização da PM no Brasil. Como metodologia, foi empregada a bibliográfica, expondo posicionamentos doutrinários acerca do tema.
