Abstract: The present work is focused on the study of rock art from the GO-CP33 site, which is located in the municipality of Palestina de Goiás, published in the book Caiapônia: arqueologia nos cerrados do Brasil Central (SCHMITZ et al., 1986), with the aim of develop research on rock art as an aesthetic and cultural expression of the original peoples of the past and, therefore, all its cultural importance. The central point of this Course Completion Work is the hypothesis of the use of hallucinogens or the psychic alteration for the production of rock art, for that I sought to know ethnographic studies that could demonstrate how the use of hallucinogens is or was present in the life of indigenous groups. I used Reichel-Dolmatoff's (1976) ethnographic research among the Tukanoans of the Amazon as a reference. Figures from the encoded motifs of the Tukans, according to Reichel-Dolmatoff, and motifs based on phosphenes, according to Max Knoll, were compared and analyzed with the cave paintings at the GO-CP-33 site. The method used to reach the objective of this work was the bibliographic survey of works related to the theme and the analysis of the decals from the GO-CP-33 website that are published in the book mentioned above. Through the comparative analysis of the drawings of the motifs presented in the publication by Reichel-Dolmatoff with the tables for classifying and identifying the graphics made from the decals, it was possible to observe that many images are similar to the images made using hallucinogens demonstrated by Reichel-Dolmatoff and understand how the ethos and worldview of its authors can be reflected in the graphics.
