| Resumo: | Within Human Rights, women's rights have increasingly gained worldwide attention. The creation of conventions such as the “Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women” (CEDAW) has facilitated the development of mechanisms aimed at prioritizing the rights of women and ensuring that States comply with the guidelines. This work investigates the participation of women in the Brazilian labor market, focusing on the analysis of the reports delivered by Brazil to CEDAW and the public policies of the Lula Government. In this sense, an attempt will be made to answer the following questions: i) did the public policies implemented during the Lula administration contemplate the requirements of CEDAW? and; ii) did women improve their participation in the Brazilian labor market between 2003 and 2011? The investigation of these questions is carried out methodologically, through the reading of books, scientific articles, magazine articles, media, reports and IBGE data. Given the information collected during the process of this work, it is possible to perceive the rise of women in the Brazilian labor market. |
