dc.description.abstract | Introduction: Low back pain is one of the most common musculoskeletal complaints in the world, being characterized as pain between the 12th rib and the gluteal fold, which may or may not radiate to the lower limbs. Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of the myofascial release technique of cupping therapy in pain, limitation of movement and functional disability in women with low back pain. Methods: This is an almost experimental and descriptive study, carried out with 48 women with low back pain. An evaluation form was used to obtain personal, anthropometric, sociodemographic data related to low back pain; Visual Analogue Scale to measure pain intensity; Schöber’sTest to assess mobility; and the Oswestry Disability Index to check for low back disability. Each participant underwent a sliding cupping therapy session, being reassessed immediately after the intervention and 3 days after treatment. Results: The average age of the participants was 38,6 years (±14,65) and the body mass index was 26,05 kg/m2 (±4,43), with the majority (58,3%) presented acute pain. A significant improvement in pain (p<0,001) and mobility (p=0,001) was observed, remaining for 3 days after the intervention. It was also identified that the treatment provided a significant improvement in functional capacity (p<0,001). Conclusion: Myofascial release by means of sliding cupping therapy improved the pain, mobility and functionality of the lumbar of the participants, with the results being maintained for 3 days. | pt_BR |

| pt_BR |
