A abdução do indígena: uma investigação do filme “A chegada” sob a perspectiva da colonialidade

Abstract

This work investigates how language leads to the interpretation of individual facticity in the face of the encounter of different civilizations. Through postcolonial theories, the research presents prudence when studying the impact of colonizing power relations through language, and the reasons that drive epistemicide included in the development of this process. A study is carried out to interpret the imagery of colonization and the imagery of the colonizer in opposition to that of the indigenous, through the analysis of the film “Arrival” (2016). In this, the production of power through language also comes from the double belonging listed in the maximum antinomy of indigenous/native - extraterrestrial, where extraterrestrials refer simultaneously to the figure of the colonizer and that of the native. The film explains an exercise in the overlapping of nations in an outline of what was, and still is, a colonial project, despite the end of colonization. Like the film's narrative, the work explores how civilizations respond to the unknown future, and the pervasiveness of violent reactions to the uncertainties that accompany it. It is also understood that information relating to the experience has a delimited time and place and how they are linked to the adherence of a culture and the lascivious discomfort of the culture of non-origin. Finally, the presence of the coloniality of being-knowledge is perceived and the path to its dismantling is registered. The results achieved are fundamental in the idea of elevating the mestizo episteme as a historical source for a new approach to reality.
