Atuação fonoaudiológica nas dificuldades de aprendizagem de escolares após impacto da pandemia da covid-19 – revisão integrativa

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused significant changes in the educational context, affecting the language, communication, and learning development of school-aged children. School closures, the adoption of remote learning, and the reduction of social interactions have contributed to increased difficulties related to reading, writing, verbal comprehension, and academic performance, amplifying the need for monitoring and intervention actions by education and health professionals. In this context, Speech-Language Pathology stands out as a fundamental area for the early identification, prevention, and intervention of learning difficulties observed in the post-pandemic period. Objective: To analyze the role of speech-language pathology in addressing learning difficulties in schoolchildren after the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic through an integrative literature review. Method: This is a qualitative bibliographic research study conducted in the SciELO, LILACS, Virtual Health Library (BVS), and MEDLINE databases, using descriptors related to Speech-Language Pathology, learning, language, schoolchildren, and COVID-19. Articles published between 2020 and 2026, available in full, in Portuguese, and related to the investigated theme were included. Results and Discussion: The results showed that the impacts of the pandemic went beyond the loss of school content, compromising linguistic, cognitive, emotional, and social skills essential for the learning process. An increase in difficulties related to reading, writing, oral language, attention, and memory was observed. The analyzed evidence demonstrated that speech-language pathology intervention contributes to the early identification of these difficulties and to the implementation of intervention strategies aimed at strengthening communicative and academic skills, especially when developed in partnership with the school and family. Conclusion: It is concluded that speech-language pathology plays an essential role in addressing the learning difficulties intensified by the pandemic, contributing to the promotion of learning, school inclusion, and the integral development of students.
