Abstract: The initial establishment of maize crops is strongly influenced by soil water availability, especially in second-crop maize production systems (safrinha), where water deficit periods frequently occur during germination and seedling emergence. In this context, hydropriming has been considered a promising strategy to improve seed physiological performance under adverse environmental conditions. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of hydropriming on the germination and initial development of maize seedlings subjected to different levels of water availability. The experiment was conducted in a completely randomized design with six treatments and four replications. Treatments consisted of the combination of seeds submitted or not to hydropriming and three soil field capacity levels (100%, 50%, and 25%). The evaluated variables were germination percentage, emergence speed index (ESI), shoot length, root length, and total dry mass of seedlings. The results showed that hydropriming did not significantly affect final germination percentage; however, it increased emergence speed and improved seedling initial development. In addition, water restriction reduced the initial growth of maize plants, whereas hydropriming partially mitigated these negative effects. It was concluded that hydropriming has the potential to enhance seed vigor and the initial establishment of maize under water deficit conditions, particularly in second-crop maize production systems.

    <summary type="text">Título: Influência do tratamento biológico com Trichoderma asperellum na qualidade fisiológica de sementes de soja (Glycine max)
Abstract: Biological seed treatment has gained increasing importance in agriculture due to its potential to&#xD;
enhance early crop performance, particularly through the use of beneficial microorganisms such&#xD;
as Trichoderma asperellum. The physiological quality of soybean seeds is directly associated&#xD;
with early developmental stages and may be influenced by practices such as microbiolization&#xD;
and biopriming. This study evaluated different doses of T. asperellum applied to soybean seeds&#xD;
of the cultivar ST711 I2X, aiming to assess their effects on germination, normal seedling&#xD;
formation, and the occurrence of abnormalities. Five treatments were conducted under&#xD;
controlled laboratory conditions, following standardized seed analysis methodologies. The&#xD;
results showed that germination remained high across all treatments, ranging from 88% to 92%,&#xD;
with no statistically significant differences among the evaluated doses. Although the&#xD;
intermediate dose (50%) showed a trend toward better balance in germination and seedling&#xD;
development, higher doses tended to increase the incidence of abnormal seedlings. These&#xD;
findings indicate that T. asperellum does not negatively affect the physiological quality of&#xD;
soybean seeds under the studied conditions, supporting its safe use in seed treatment, while&#xD;
highlighting the importance of appropriate dose selection to avoid potential undesirable&#xD;
physiological responses.

    <summary type="text">Título: Avaliação do controle de qualidade de trichogramma pretiosum (hymenoptera: trichogrammatidae) utilizado no controle biológico de pragas em cultivos agrícolas.
Abstract: This study aimed to evaluate biological parameters used in the quality control of Trichogramma pretiosum, a parasitoid widely employed in biological pest control programs. The experiment was conducted under controlled laboratory conditions using Ephestia kuehniella eggs as an alternative host. The evaluated parameters included parasitism rate, emergence rate, sex ratio, female longevity, and adult flight capacity. Parasitism ranged from 22 to 65 eggs per female within 24 hours, corresponding to parasitism percentages between 9.52% and 28.09%. Female longevity varied from 9 to 12 days. Emergence rates showed broad variation among experimental units, ranging from 36.9% to 100%. The mean sex ratio was 0.67 ± 0.03, indicating a predominance of females, which is desirable for biological control programs. Flight capacity exhibited excellent performance, with 98.9% and 99.35% flying adults in the two replicates evaluated, surpassing the minimum recommended quality standards. The results indicate satisfactory performance in several evaluated parameters, particularly sex ratio, longevity, and flight capacity, although parasitism and emergence showed considerable variability among units. These findings highlight the importance of continuous monitoring of T. pretiosum quality in biofactories and laboratory systems.
